TRANSPOSITIONAL PLAY
Beyond the visual aspect, period transposition also embodies ANNABELLE's artistic DNA. While drawing inspiration from Renaissance aesthetic codes, such as black backgrounds, lace, velvet, and jewelry typical of the 16th century, ANNABELLE blends eras with subjects that reflect hyper-contemporary beauty standards. She thus creates a timeless, mysterious, and independent female figure, a modern warrior draped in lace, whose appearance recalls that of social media celebrities in a Renaissance setting.

This work is titled Cassia, embodying a modern warrior with a blend of classical and contemporary aesthetics. Cassia wears a Roman-style helmet, adorned with red and aged metal, a symbol of bravery, history, and ancient warfare. This helmet evokes the centurions of the Roman Empire, emphasizing her role as a warrior.
In her left hand, she holds an ace of hearts, a symbol of mystery, hidden power, or a strategic move. This iconographic choice evokes cunning and tactical intelligence, essential qualities of a warrior.
On her wrist, a modern watch contrasts with the other historical elements, creating a bridge between the glorious past and the technological present. This anchors Cassia in a hybrid temporality: a woman of all eras, both an ancient strategist and a contemporary woman.
